In my current art work I create from my imagination alone, there are no outside images for me to work from, and this gives me a more fulfilling painting experience because it all comes from within me. The painted images are abstracted and they show both moving and motionless human figures in sometimes contemplative and sometimes playful relationships with the forces of nature like the sun and ocean. I do this so that in a metaphysical sense the human figure, the Individual is standing or playing, awed in the presence of the godlike force of the sun and surrounded by the force of the ocean. To me the figures represent the highest aspiration achievable by all individuals, completeness in being.
To show the poetic imagery I developed two styles in which to achieve this; one is more controlled and more thought out in my mind, painted with the brush and the wooden end of the brush, the other is more random and expressionistic, painted with my fingers in what I call chaotic precision. I use some reds and whites, but mostly variations of yellows, blues, and greens which complement each other creating a unique balance between human figures and natural forces.
