Artist Statement

Although my work in general can be characterised as “landscape”, typically my attention is focussed upon specific objects such as rocks, trees or pools, which speak to me as having a particular symbolic significance. The inter-twining of two ancient trees, exposed on a mountainside, seemed to convey at one and the same time both erotic involvement and antagonistic struggle. In that respect they could be said to embody essential elements of human life.
