Broadway Gallery NYC is pleased to announce an

We Come From The Land of The Ice and Snow

by Chibi Lai

The exhibition will open Tuesday August 4th and close on Sunday August 30th, with a reception for the  artist on Wednesday August 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be  Chibi’s first solo show in New York.

The project, shot in Iceland, is a continuation of her Displacement  series, focusing on the concept of solidarity and wanderlust. In  comparison to the self portraits in the Displacement series, these  images are not of the artist but speak of how it feels to be in  solitude and searching for the right place from a universal  standpoint. With nature playing a huge role in the series, a timeless place has been created, where everything becomes dreamlike,  where nothing seems to be real or certain. The exhibition will include twenty pieces of varying sizes, both analog and digital c-prints. A catalogue of the work, published by  Long Tom Books to accompany the exhibition will be available and includes an essay by former Time Magazine photo editor Robert Stevens.

Chibi Lai was born in 1987 in New York City and received her BFA  from the School of Visual Arts in 2009. She was nominated for the Tierney Award in Photography and was part of the School of Visual Arts mentor program and exhibition curated by Stephen Frailey.
