The Best Of New York Part Two

September 17 to 30 2009,
Opening reception on September 17, from 6 to 8pm.
Featuring artists
Responding to the challenges and preoccupations of our time, performance artist, videographer and fine artist extraordinaire Saeri Kritani has selected a group of artists for THE BEST OF NEW YORK 2009, a cross section of the best visual work being created today. While many of these artists live and work in NY metro area—an aspect of their current milieu that is reflected in their practice, all of the art in the show is aimed at engaging the zeitgeist of our moment.
According to Kritani “As a practicing artist, I look at a wide range of work and have had the honor of having many of these artists as colleagues during formal training, in art residencies and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. I also think that as an art maker myself, I’m more interested in considering the current constellation of concerns that these artists are responding to rather than presenting a theme around which the art is gathered. I’m also very interested in what the viewing audience finds to be the themes of our time. So come see the show and let us know what you think.”
