Broadway Gallery
is pleased to announce “Continuuuuuity”, a solo exhibition by Yilmaz Zenger. Based on the findings from German mathematicians August Mobius and Johann Listing, Zenger’s recent work focuses on the concept of the ‘Mobius Strip’; a line twisted 180 degrees and looped around forming a cyclic path. “So in continuity, you can use both sides of the strip without interruption,” states Zenger.

The idea of the Mobius Strip has long been of interest as an optical illusion, mathematic and scientific model. Zenger’s fascination suggests universal theories of infinite passage including questions of time and travel. His resin, metal, acrylic sculptures compose themselves in bizarre twists and turns formally understood as beautiful interpretations of his own Mobius Strips.

As an architect, painter, furniture designer, filmmaker and sculptor among other things, Zenger’s specific use of materials are chosen to suite ideas. Jumping around among various disciplines proves how undisciplined he allows his mind to be. Technically he masters skills of all trades while letting his conceptual side take the reins. In regards to this recent body work, the fusion of organic colors and shapes produced by inorganic substances illustrates the Mobius Strip as something between fiction and fact, perhaps suggesting it’s physical truth while alluding to possible other meanings.

Having exhibited in China, Spain and New York including participation in past group and solo exhibitions specifically at Broadway Gallery, we are pleased have Yilmaz Zenger show with us once again.
