Even the lowest of the low amongst us, murderers, rapists of children, men and women of violence and terror, do what they do in pursuit of happiness. This pursuit of happiness is what drives us all, honestly this is why we do anything we ever do.
What is any technique good for then? For painting and sculpting? For sewing so we can get dressed? To eat and sleep..? Can we survive without the sort of motivation and understanding of life as a dream? Is that sort of survival more of living or of dying?

“Dreamy Techniques” group exhibition is held from March 1st to March 15th, 2007 at Broadway Gallery NYC and the Opening Reception was super-packed with a full-house turn out on Friday March 2nd between 6-8 pm.

“Intensely personal, while at the same time unpretentious and accessible, Jason Douglas Griffin’s paintings borrow equally from classical artistic traditions, urban aesthetic, and pop culture. In Griffin’s paintings, the intersection of cultures and ideologies produce an innovative style that challenges the common perceptions of identity…”

“I create sculpted paintings using a clay and acrylic casting process. When a piece is ready for painting, a dialogue begins. This is where I search for the form and the soul of the painting and in the process I grow within.”

“Painting is my way of communicating my thoughts to the world in silence. My paintings share an intimate moment with the viewer. My subject matter is of animals that have taken on human characteristics. My way of expression is through the medium of paint. My subjects have a story that begins to unravel the more time you spend observing them. Life is just a series of moments that tells our story.”

Some years ago, I have written the short poem called “High Tech” which among other things has inspired me to this new digital photo work. “HIGH TECH”

You say
the poet is a dreamer
You say
there is no reason to the world
You say
that angels are mere ghosts
You say
we can slice open the world
with a high-tech microscope

With these digital photo works on the subject of “Dreamy Techniques”, I have gone on an imaginary time journey into orbit. To create these digital photo works, I have edited photographs of my own oil paintings with special software. Thus each digital photo work also always is a unique work of art. Imaginary landscapes on strange planets, oases in orbit, beings of light, space shuttles, and astronauts are connected with writing and fictitious mathematical formulas. Visualization of a dreamed-about, imaginary expedition through time and space becomes a true “art space”.

I want a life in which my expressions are received with meaning. To be seen with a face I feel no need to hide. The Hallelujahs of making wonder and glory spring from nothing. Come out. Come out and play with me.

“I suppose I am, and always will be; a student of art. Because art is very difficult to explain in a few words or sentences, I prefer to let my creations do the talking. As the creator of the piece, I too am the art, and with each creation I expose a little bit of my inner nature to the observer-my true self-my inner voice. My intention in producing works of art is simply to move you, that is to make you feel something special and provide a unique experience you would not have had otherwise”.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Marie-Jose Vielot’s artwork is a collection of pieces that use Mother Nature’s natural resources to create lively images of nature and life. As a result of collecting various seashells the artist was inspired to create images that transformed these shells into remarkable works of art.
