Lovenest

Broadway Gallery is pleased to present a group show curated by Adam Eckstrom. The “Lovenest,” as it has been titled, consists of not only five separate artists, but a group of work that folds in upon one another and entwines itself into an unpredicted installation.

Sheila Pepe makes elaborate woven pieces out of industrial materials. For “Lovenest” she creates a wall piece that explains both the bond and the bondage experienced between herself and her long-time life partner, Carrie. Bradley Fesmire’s paintings mirror Pepe’s sculptural line. His inscriptions in wood are made with both a router and a brush depicting two heartbeats working together with furious joy and passion.

Lauren Was creates a moment between lovers. Two trees made from industrial felt embrace as a rainbow surrounds them. While Robin Peter Mandel gives us two figures (as wine glasses) dancing in circles and passing one another over and over until they finally meet with a toast, Erika Olson ties the show together with a pair of abstract paintings operating in the middle of Pepe and Fesmire’s emotive line work and Was and Mendel’s figurative sculptures- objects in love.
